General Discussion / Re: STEAM for PC is LIVE!

Thanks! I've also been asking for some time please with no answer- do you know if we could have some text to speech alternative for win 7? The game was so awesome with the old TTS and now it is so silent, half of the immersion is lost on Win7... :(

Hi ApolloGirl,

I already asked this on the steam forum, but perhaps it's more appropriate here anyway: us who received the steam key for beta access - do we have the retail version now? The steam says I already have the game, but I'll gladly pay the price asked if it is not the same version.

Not sure how to proceed then - if I'll have to remove the product from my library first, but perhaps something similar to this...

Thank you!

So it all looks like bad news. I just tested the sim on an English Windows 7 install and no TTS either. So it apparently works in Win10 only :(

Moreover - the Steam store page now says Win10 recommended with a remark that MS TTS has to be installed to get checklists and radio stations read aloud.

Any comment from Brixton Dynamics/Stuka games on whether there is any chance for TTS in Win7 would be highly appreciated. The old TTS worked so well...

Hello, now that the release date is close, are there any chances the TTS issue in Win7 (or non-English Win7?) will get sorted till the release? As I proposed before, perhaps by providing the original TTS system separately?

Thank you very much!

As you can see in another thread, same here re TTS. Good that I am not alone. Javier, I truly believe the easiest and quick fix is to provide a separate download of a small pack (zip) with which we will overwrite the space sim steam-provided installation and that will re-enable the originally used internal version of TTS... or integrate this TTS via a plugin that would again be downloaded elsewhere (outside of steam). Would this be possible?

Hi, it is Czech. To be honest it also occurred to me this could actually be the issue. Could it? You have an English Win7 installation with TTS working correctly? I think I have one older laptop with an English win7 installation, want me to try it?

7
So I tried with yet another Win7 PC, the same thing, the TTS seems to be set in the control panel (Anna voice), but no TTS in-game. I really keep my fingers crossed this can be remedied or there will be an option to install the original TTS from external source as having the game without TTS is so empty... and I don't want to update my PCs to Win10 for many reasons :(

And me again - I actually see now that my win7 installation does have the default TTS voice Anna ready for use, but apparently the sim is unable to make use of it. I also found some additional voice, but don't think it will change anything. Think you made it work with Win 10 TTS only... Is your program using the SAPI5 interface?

Hi again,

I was trying to see if there's a TTS package from  Win10 i could install in Win7, but no luck. Hope it does not mean there will be no option to make TTS work in Win 7 as the game will be pretty quiet without it :(

10
I'm using Windows 7 on both of my PCs. So it's no TTS outside of win10 or is there something I can install to have TTS in Win7?

Frankly it may not be the best move to use the integrated TTS anyway in case this software is planned to be ported to Linux in the future... ?

Or could you leave an option for us without Win 10 to use the old TTS (perhaps download it from you server if steam do not want to distribute it)? I was perfectly fine with the old TTS except for that I would prefer a male voice over female for Apollo.

Betatest Area / Steam version: Text to Speech Not Working Since Jan 23

Since yesterday the text to speech functionality stopped working, I just hear the beeps. Turning the "Spoken checklists" option off and on in the config/audio has no effect.

Report your Bugs here! / No Steam Release as Promised
« on: December 22, 2017, 07:17:43 AM »
Hello jcarrion, ApolloGirl and the rest of the team,

there was no steam release yesterday (December 21) as promised. I believe that the community on steam deserves an explanation or at least a short information on what happened and what are the next steps. It's of course your call, but this is my humble advice because what happened does not look very trustworthy. It does not have to be a long story or anything, just a short, one paragraph info on the status published on the steam forum. This silence is, in my humble opinion, a bad move...

Yes, a lot of stuff still feels unfinished, wonder if it's really going to be released today. The product is not in a totally bad shape, but I fear that the current state could drive some people away... :(

Additional item to annoyances:
(g) The Moon surface looks really weird on the verge of the lit and dark side, the some small portions of the "highlands" are lit while the surroundings are black which causes terrible flickering. It can be very well seen in the TEI scenario. Could this be remedied?

By the way - I'm starting to really believe no-one is actually reading this... :) Mighty developers, if you're reading this, please give us a sign! ;)

(4) There is a graphical glitch/artifact seen through the cab windows during the lunar orbit phase of the mission. It looks like some kind of a line that rotates strangely when you move your position relative to the window.

By the way I've never seen anyone react to other people giving these bug reports, is anyone reading this at all I wonder?
