Hi, Apollo girl! Even with the green dot by the autopilot is off, the spaceship won’t maneuver! What is happening here?! Thanks!

               Cheers,

Hi Vincent,

Could it be because there is an autopilot on? When an autopilot is on, there is a green dot on the tab.

General Discussion / Re: ISS Docking
« Last post by David on May 19, 2018, 12:06:53 PM »
Hello,
I’ve used the built in Real scenario of thee Space Shuttle docked to the ISS to practice. I undocked and then redocked.
I noticed that the Docking ports on the ISS and Shuttle are not correctly aligned.
When aligned correctly, however the rudder of the Shuttle cuts into the ISS. See Photo. The other benefits are the scenario can be saved and you are able to Transfer without crashing.
The Shuttle can be docked at 180° without cutting into the ISS, I think.
A great App, full of interest and challenges.
David.
PS I couldn’t see how to attach a photo, sorry.

Apollogirl,
Many thanks for the instructions and videos. I was using the Shuttle mission to get near to the ISS and the Docking MDF and Retrograde to get up close but I wasn’t able to locate the Docking port. Your help is fantastic!
Where is the ISS? It doesn’t seem possible to set it as a target in the iPad app.
David.

General Discussion / Space Shuttle dock with ISS
« Last post by ApolloGirl on May 16, 2018, 03:56:42 PM »
Hi all,

Here are a couple of videos of gameplay footage of the second Space Shuttle scenario - Space Shuttle ISS Rendezvous.

The steps are roughly as follows:
1) RETRO relative to the docking target until relative velocity is about 0m/s.
2) Point to the target and get as close as possible to within about a couple of hundred meters.
3) Kill relative velocity.
4) Use manual control to align the spacecraft with the docking port.
5) And finally, use RCSTRAN to complete docking.

In this particular scenario, as the docking port of the ISS is on the other side, fly the Shuttle pass it and approach from the other side.

Hope this helps.

Hi masaki,

Are you selecting the RETRO in the DOCK mfd? This function retrogrades the spacecraft -relative- to the docking target. This is a different procedure to retrograding normally against its orbital direction. I will post a video on this soon.

Report your Bugs here! / Re: lever for yawing is missing?

Hi KevinPrasanna,

Thank you for your question. To liftoff the Space Shuttle is easy. The quickest way is to open the SHIP panel and hit LAUNCH. If you don't see the SHIP panel open the CONTROL tab at the top of the screen. If you want more challenge, select the MAN panel and use the throttle (slider on the left) and joystick to maneuver.
